Rohit was asked for his comments on the controversy on the eve of his side’s T20 World Cup opener against Pakistan and he predictably sidestepped the issue.
“My position is that we concentrate on this World Cup because it is important to us. We are not worried about what will happen later. There is no point in thinking about that.” Rohit answered in a factual manner.
“The BCCI will take the decisions on that. We are focused on how we should be very well prepared for tomorrow’s game,” Rohit added.
A war of words broke out between Indian and Pakistani cricket boards after BCCI’s secretary Jay Shah told media that “India will not travel to Pakistan for the Asia Cup and it will be held at a neutral venue.”
In response, Pakistan threatened to withdraw from the EDI World Cup in India. Minister of Sports Anurag Thakur said players’ safety is important and the government will take a call on their trip to Pakistan.
However, he hoped that Pakistan will come to India next year to participate in the 50-over World Cup.
