The Government of India has strongly condemned the terrorist attack in Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan. This terrorist attack happened at the educational institution in Dasht-e-Barchi, where the students had come to take the exam. Most of the students belonged to the Hazara community. The Hazara community is considered a minority in Afghanistan and there have been several major terrorist attacks targeting the Hazara community. It is not clear which organization claimed responsibility for this attack. But the IS branch in Khorasan is believed to be still very active in Afghanistan after the Taliban came to power. So far, IS has claimed responsibility for most terrorist attacks.
Innocents should not be targeted
Arindam Bagchi, spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, in the press conference said that we are saddened by yesterday’s terrorist attack in Dasht-e-Barchi of Kabul. Our condolences are with the families of the victims. Arindam Bagchi further said that the Government of India strongly condemns the continued targeting of innocent students of educational institutions.

We inform you that more than 20 people, most of them students, lost their lives in this terrorist attack. All these students had come to give the exam. Several teachers and security personnel were also killed in the attack.
