The festival of Durga is celebrated with great fanfare across the country
Durga festival is celebrated with great pomp in different parts of the country. Every year there has been a tradition of grand Durga Puja on the occasion of Navratra. Maa is worshiped for nine days. Maa Durga and her nine forms are worshiped with great grandeur in every corner of the earth. It is said that it was first started by a Bengali youth in the ninth century.
There is also mention of a scholar named Raghunandan Bhattacharya from Bengal who organized Durga Puja for the first time.
